In the Bible, Jesus tells a parable about a shepherd who is willing to go through time consuming trouble to find one lost sheep. (Luke 15:3-7) He is willing to climb mountains, cross streams, and leave himself open to hidden dangers in order to retrieve it.
Where another man would let the one sheep go and be content with the other ninety-nine, this shepherd has so much love for each individual sheep, he has to go out and rescue the lost one.
This parable is a model of the love that God has for us. He is willing to hunt us down when we go astray and rescue us from any troubles that we may have gotten into. He is willing to take the time to go after us wherever we are in life and for however long it may take.
We can run from His love as long as we want, but each time we pause to look, He’s still there with His arms outstretched ready to carry us back home.
Others may have passed us over considering us of no value to them. Someone else may have picked us up only to throw us to the side when they had no use for us anymore.
However, God chose to purchase us at the highest price He could pay: the life of His only Son. He didn’t care that our lives cost so much; He loved us so much, He gladly gave the asking price.
Can you remember where you were when God’s love found you? Do you recall how He picked you up and carried you in His arms of love? Now you are one of the prized possessions in His flock, safe from all harm.
Be sure to take a moment today and thank God for going through the trouble of making you His own! Also, make sure you pick up your chin, put on a smile, and walk tall…You are a prized possession of the King of All!
Verse of the Day: For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. I Corinthians 6:20
