Body Talk

Sooo… The other day we had a client in our office, and I had to run down the hall to get something for them and quickly return. I jogged over, got the papers, and jogged back. Can I tell you I was breathless?

I was shaking my head at my own self! There is no way a quick trip back and forth (not even at full speed) should knock the wind out of me. Yet it did. There’s been some other signs of my apparent fall into unhealthy habits. I have chosen to heed the warnings.

I’ve started easing myself back into my work out routine. The last couple of nights I have reincorporated sit ups and pushups back into my regimen. On Demand workouts are next.

When God created us, He fashioned top of the line beings that have the most efficient systems you can find. We regulate our own blood flow, food digestion, and distribution of nutrients without thinking. We process audio, sight images, smell, taste and touch automatically. We have the ability to move in ways no other creature on the planet can. And if our human bodies can’t handle it, God has given us minds that can create inventions to help upgrade our quality of life.

We are truly magnificent.

However, many of us neglect our magnificent bodies. Some of us even abuse them.

We eat all kinds of foods that clog up our internal systems. We have become lazy and have allowed ourselves to get out of the shape we’re supposed to be in. Some of us also choose to participate in smoking and heavy drinking that leads to even more health problems.

I’m not trying to be preachy, because I am the first one to raise my hand and say I need a health intervention. We just need to be mindful of the fact that our physical bodies are a gift from God as well. How we treat these gifts is somewhat a reflection of how we appreciate our Heavenly Father.

He blessed our spirits with the best ‘house’ to live in while we’re on earth. Why are we just allowing that ‘house’ to lie in disarray?

Let’s all do better and take some time to show some respect to our physical beings. I'm sure the Creator of them will greatly appreciate it.

Verse of the Day: What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? I Corinthians 6:19
