About Me

So, I figured all of you lovely people would like to know some things about the girl who's serving up cups of morning inspiration. So here are some facts, fun, and pictures.

I have literally grown up in the church! But, it wasn't until my late teens that I had a true encounter with God that solidified my faith.

I am the eldest daughter to the pastor of a wonderful church in Riverdale, IL. I have a younger sister who is the complete opposite of me in almost every way.

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Howard University. I recently obtained my Master's in Christian Leadership from Liberty University.

My favorite colors are black and white (with a splash of gray).

I currently have the honor of serving as the Youth Leader to some fabulous teenagers in my church. Professionally, I work at a Catholic high school. I recently hung up my hat as the assistant coach to a high school cheerleading team. Ti loves the kids!

My hobbies include writing plays, poetry, and prose. I also enjoy reading, watching foreign films (I'm currently in my anime phase), and word games (Ruzzle, anyone?).

I believe God has placed me on this earth to minister to the younger generations and point them to Christ.

I love all things food: buying, cooking, reading cookbooks, watching food shows on tv... but I am a very picky eater. My best dish is my brownies. I've had plenty of years to perfect them!

I am blessed to be the godmother to a spectacularly spunky, six year old (who thinks she's fifteen).

Despite having preached numerous sermons in front of both small and larger crowds, I get incredibly nervous before walking on the stage - then God takes over! It's amazing. God never fails.

My favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11. My favorite chapter in the Bible is Psalm 27. My favorite biblical character is Queen Esther.

I was incredibly shy as a child, and only in my late twenties did I become comfortable speaking to people I don't know. However, I am still very quiet. I find that observation reveals much more than conversation.

I can pinpoint the exact time I fell in love with writing. It was during a summer I spent in New Orleans, bored out of my mind, and homesick beyond belief. Out of my youthful angst, I penned a book full of poetry. I still have it to this day - along with a stack of other journals.

I love to worship the Lord. Just sitting in God's presence and releasing all the cares of this world... I could stay in that place forever... And I get to! Can't wait to get to glory!
