Created on Purpose

Isn’t it amazing that God created this big beautiful world in just six days? Every natural thing and being on this planet was put together in less than a week.

The creation story is a lovely example of the order, wisdom, and love of our Heavenly Father. He created each part on a certain day in a certain order. He didn’t jump out the gate and create trees… he created the sky and land first for the tree to live in. God didn’t create birds without forming the grass and trees they were going to live in and feed off of first.

God didn’t fashion and breathe life into Adam until everything that Adam was to have dominion over was in place. When Adam awoke, he awoke able to walk straight into his destiny and purpose. He wasn’t brought to life only to have to wait around for his assignment to show up.

God is continuing to fashion and mold us every day as well. Often we get frustrated thinking we should be further along or doing more than what we are. Could it be that God is only on day two, and we want to rush to day six?

Allow God the time He needs to bring you to your place of destiny. Who knows what God is putting together for you today! If you were to rush ahead, that very item may be unfinished, and that could cause you to fall short of your goal.

Trust God to bring you forward in His timing. When you wake up to the day of your promise, everything you need to succeed will be in place and waiting for you to walk into.

Verse of the Day: And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. Genesis 1:31

Thanksgiving Friday! - Poetry Edition

Hey everyone! It’s Friday, and I’m feeling a bit poetic. I’ll roll with it…

Thankful for another week
Grateful for this day I see
Despite the pain I may have felt
My spirit has the gift of peace

My heart is light
My soul’s alright
I’m giving praise -
With all my might

I can’t stop liftin’ Him
I can’t stop worshippin’
With each breath that I take
It’s more I owe to Him

He’s been so gracious
I’m glad that I made it
Gotta keep on praisin’
Because my God’s amazing!

If you feel like I do
Don’t stay silent
Lift your voice and raise your hands
Give God praise while you still can

Tomorrow’s not promised
And today’s not done
Before this moment’s gone
Bless the Holy One

Whew! That was straight off the dome folks… Have a blessed weekend!

Verse of the Day: By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. Hebrews 13:15

Live the Life of Your Dreams

One of the great things about my hour long commute is that it gives me time to think. It is the one place where I am totally alone with no interruptions. I love it.

Often, I find myself tuning out or turning off the radio and letting my mind think over all the wonderful places of purpose that I am on my way to. I think of projects I would like to start, places I want to go… I envision myself already walking in my destiny. I see myself active in my purpose. It really helps the time fly by.

This morning, I was in the midst of one of my “think tanks” and I remembered a question that I had come across: What would you do if you knew you wouldn’t fail? If you were guaranteed success, what would you do?

I let myself mull over that for a moment and was surprised at some of the things that popped up. It’s amazing how God has given us the ability to dream and have vision. He has placed inside of us the imagination, creativity, and gift of formulating ideas. Yet, so often, we all come short of turning those ideas into reality. Why?

We don’t believe that we have the capacity to make those dreams come to fruition.

We allow the fear of failure and ridicule, self-doubt and apprehension to take over before we attempt the first step toward the dream.

However, if we think about it, it’s the same God who gave us the ability to dream and have vision Who gives us the ability to walk those things out. He’s given you both the dream and the capacity to make that dream a reality!

God loves us so much, and He wants us to live our lives to their full potential. The only thing holding us back is ourselves.

Verse of the Day: There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18

Unexpected Love

Isn’t it great when you get shown unexpected love?

It could be an unexpected call or text, a delivery of flowers, an invitation to dinner, or even something as simple as a hug out of the blue. We all enjoy receiving love from the people around us.

I especially enjoy receiving acts of love. To know that someone thought enough of me to go out of their way to show their affection warms my heart so much!

On occasion I try to make a point of doing extra for someone else as well. I think I enjoy giving out the love so much more than receiving it. Plus, you can’t reap what you haven’t sown!

In the same manner, God shows His love for us in so many ‘little’ ways throughout the day. If you start paying attention, you’ll begin to notice His touches of affection for you all around.

Why not give some of that unexpected love back to Him?

You could extend your regularly scheduled time with Him and give Him the treat of a few more minutes of worship. You could create a special song or poem just for His ears to hear. Or, in your time of prayer, you could silence your own voice and just give Him the opportunity to speak to you for a change.

In another vein, you could look for a stranger to shower His love upon. Let the Holy Spirit guide you in showing love to someone in a unique way that’s out of your normal practice. Showing God’s love to someone else is a wonderful way to make God happy. (Matthew 25: 34-40)

Let’s all try to show God some ‘unexpected’ love today! He does so much for us, why not make Him smile too?

Verse of the Day: Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 1 John 4:7

Remember Who Has Your Back!

I woke up this morning feeling brand new! Gotta love it! It’s a “new mercies every morning” kind of day!

I don’t know what caused the shift, but I’ll roll with it. If you have been reading, you’ve noticed I’ve been a bit down, but I thank God for refreshing my spirit! I feel like the clouds are moving. Not a thing has changed but my mindset – I finally located the bit of optimism I have - and that makes a world of difference!

-------------------------------

We have to constantly remember the goodness and faithfulness of the Lord. We can’t forget how great our God is, how much love He has for us, and what He has promised for us. If we keep that in mind, nothing will faze us or cause us to stumble.

It’s like the children of Israel when they finally got to the Promised Land. Imagine wandering in the desert for 40 years to arrive at your place of destiny only to find out you have to battle GIANTS to get your promise!

The Israelites quickly forgot about how God had fought battles for them before. How the Lord had parted the Red Sea to get them away from the Egyptians. How he miraculously fed them with manna and quail when there was no food to be found. They forgot about how He healed them when they were sick.

All they could see were the big, strong GIANTS in their way. They forgot about the Bigger, Stronger, All-Encompassing GOD on their side.

Because of their oversight, a whole generation missed out on their destiny.

Only a small number looked at what seemed to be an obstacle with the eyes of those who knew their God. They were unafaid of the giants that stood before them. They were ready to go straight into battle knowing that the Lord would give them the victory!

These faith-filled few were allowed to partake in the glory of the Promised Land.

I don’t want to miss out on my destiny because of doubt or fear or anything else the devil might park in my eyesight. As long as the Lord tells me to keep moving forward, I’m moving forward! If God is backing me up, no roadblock, hindrance, disappointment, or seemingly missed opportunity will keep me from reaching His promise for me!

Verse of the Day: Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Deuteronomy 31:6

Thanksgiving Friday!

Praise God! We're still here, able to live and love on God's great earth.

I am thankful that today is Friday! I honestly feel like it was just Monday! Usually, it's the other way around. This week flew by, and I'm happy to see the weekend. I really want to take a long nap.

This week I am grateful for God's arms of love. I've had to run to them pretty much every day these past few weeks. He's always been there to help calm me down, encourage, uplift, and sustain me. You cannot get love better than this! Thank you, Lord, for your unfailing love.

I would also like to give God a special thank-you for blessing me with a sister. We may be polar opposites, she may (sometimes) get on my nerves, she may dislike how I always have a word of instruction... but I love her! I'm glad we figured out how to be around each other without constantly arguing and were able to spend some time together last weekend. I'm also proud of the fabulous woman she's become! Love you, Sis!

Finally, I'm thankful for God's peace. I know I've said it before, but having peace in my life is priceless! If I didn't have the peace of God... I don't even want to think about how my life would be. Lord, thank you for your blessing of peace!

What are you thankful for today? Make sure you send up a prayer of thanksgiving to your Heavenly Father today.

Verse of the Day: Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. 2 Corinthians 2:14
