Don't Believe the Lies!

Today, I have a post featured on the EmpowerMoments blog. Below is an excerpt....

Ever since the fall of Adam of Eve, the devil has been trying his hardest to trick mankind into believing his lies. Every chance he gets, he whispers his falsities into our ears. And, it’s no wonder he keeps it up, we fall for his tales more often than not.

We continue to live in fear. We envy the lives of those we admire. We believe the lie that we are not worthy. We worry and stress ourselves out feeding into the story that things will not work out for us. We keep our dreams locked away thinking there is no way we will ever attain them.

All because of the lies of the devil. Lies we choose to believe over the Word of God....

Choosing Joy

This morning the devil tried.

He tried to steal my joy. I had to force myself to roll out of bed this morning. I was dragging myself around trying to get my responsibilities accomplished.

Then, someone went flat out lied to my face. And you all already know that I can't stand a liar. I had to stand there and count to ten just to keep my mouth closed. I was fuming walking back to my office when one of my co-workers stopped me as I was walking past. She said I looked sad and needed a hug. When she hugged me I started laughing, and I felt myself calming down.

Instead of going into my office to stew and fume, I went in and had a talk with God instead. I sat at my desk and remembered that the joy of the Lord is my strength. I said a prayer and let the Father minister His love, joy and strength to me.

I feel better.

I'm grateful for that small act of love that my co-worker gave me. I'm thankful for the reminder that even the smallest gesture can make a huge impact on someone. I'm glad that there is always a bigger picture, a greater plan, and something more important. The little things come and go. The Kingdom is forever.

So, now I'm going to pay it forward and perform an act of love for someone else. I'm not going to get worked up over little things and let them ruin my joy in Christ. I choose joy! I choose to stay joyful.

Give Me the Truth

One thing I can't stand is a liar. Someone who lies gets no love from me. White lie.. big lie... It's all the same to me. The fact that someone can knowingly tell an untruth is deplorable to me.

I can't tell one for the life of me either. Even when I've tried in the past, my insides get all twisted, my pulse races, and my throat closes up. I have to tell the truth.

Now, I may avoid the truth, or try to lead the conversation away from the truth, but I cannot tell a lie.

God hates lying even more. He is The Truth. (John 14:6) So, anything that is the opposite of that cannot have any place in His presence. He has a place to send all liars - a place no one really wants to go to. (Revelation 21:8) Yet, our world is full of lies.

Lying brings bondage. It brings stress. It breeds distrust. Lying usually leads to other darker sins. The snake lied in order to get Eve to sin. Eve repeated that lie to catch Adam up. And we know where that got everyone.

In truth we find freedom, we find hope, we find security. Truth allows us to trust. It keeps us at peace, and it causes us to be able to connect with others.

Some truths are difficult to swallow. There have been many truths that have caused me a bit of pain. But, I'll take the painful truth over an easy lie any day.

Is honesty your best policy? Do you strive to stay honest and truthful? As God's children, it is our top priority to stay in the Truth.

Verse of the Day: The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment. Proverbs 12:19
