Who Are You Following?

It amazes me sometimes how quickly the Body of Christ is turning away from the truths of the Bible. We are turning away from the Truth in order to satisfy our own selfish desires. We are paying more attention to what the world thinks about us and our beliefs than we are paying attention to the Lord.

Even our leaders our compromising the Word of God. They are sanctioning outright sin in some cases and leading God's people away from what is right.

It is so important for us to be on guard. We should always make sure what and who we are following is in agreement with God's Word. The source of what we build our faith on should be God's Word, nothing else and nothing less.

Jesus lamented the state of His people while He was on earth. And a large reason for their position was because of their leaders. The Pharisees, Sadducees, and priests were caught up in rules, money, and status. They were so concerned with their own selfish desires that the people were left wanting both physically and spiritually.

And when the Truth came in their midst, the Jewish leaders were blind. Instead of recognizing Who was among them, they ridiculed Jesus, questioned His teachings, and plotted His demise. There is only the mention of Nicodemus, a Pharisee, who came to Jesus in the cover of night who recognized that Jesus had to have come from the Lord. (John 3:2)

Who are you following? Are they pointing you to the Truth of God or are they compromising the gospel? Are they willing to follow the Word no matter how much it clashes with the world's view? Are they explaining away the Truth of the Bible, or are they holding firmly to what it states?

Make sure that you are following after a leader who follows what God says, not man. You can't afford to compromise... especially when your soul is at stake.

Prayer Covering

Every day, I read through the blogs and websites to get my daily dose of news. I also make a point to check out the Christian websites to get a sense of what's going on in our community. This morning I was just shaking my head as I was reading about some of the things our churches are facing both from the world and their own pews.

Being a PK (Pastor's Kid) I always think about the leadership. And I had to say a quick prayer for some of the leaders of the churches I was reading about. Then I said a prayer over my own leader asking God to strengthen him as well.

God has provided us leaders to watch over our souls and guide us in the faith. They are human beings just like us, however. They are subject to temptation, they have to deal with sin, and they have inward struggles just like we do.

You know how difficult it can be just keeping yourself in check. Imagine if you had to watch over a whole church! Our leaders are truly a gift from God. We, as their followers, should make sure that we are keeping them covered in prayer and doing what we can to make their job easy.

Too many leaders fall prey to the enticement of the enemy. Pride, fame, greed, and sin snare up too many leaders who could not stand strong. And the enemy loves to exploit their downfall.

There are countless others who are working diligently, day in and day out, doing their job in an excellent manner and staying true to the Word of God.

I pray that you are part of a ministry that is led by one of God's men/women of integrity. If you are, make sure you are consistently covering them in prayer. Pray that they remain strong in their calling. Pray that sin does not enter into their lives. Pray that they keep in constant communication with the Lord. Pray that they are bold enough to do what God is asking of them.

Even Jesus needed the prayers of the disciples when He was about to go to the cross. You don't know what your leader has to face or what is challenging them right now. The Holy Spirit does know. And your prayers can make a difference.

Leaders of Integrity

Yesterday my church celebrated our Apostle’s birthday. We had special presentations and a delicious dinner after service. It was wonderful to hear everyone’s testimony about how much they appreciated the leadership, love, and support our Apostle has for our congregation.

It got me thinking. Sadly, a lot of people have given up on going to or belonging to a church because they don’t have faith in the leaders. Many men and women have mistreated numerous Christians while holding the office of a pastor.

But praise God for the ones who are doing the right thing! I’ve received so much instruction, wisdom, encouragement, and love because of men and women who walk worthy of their calling. Their words have brought inspiration, innovation, and have quickened my faith.

I hope you can say the same thing about your leaders. If so, be sure to cover them in prayer and give God thanks for blessing your life. Take a moment and give them an encouraging call, email, or text. If your spiritual life lacks a genuine man or woman of God, ask God to show you where to go. You need to have a good Shepherd to lead you as you go through life. Trust me, there are still people of integrity out there!
