Yesterday afternoon, I went through a small situation with my Father. He is currently fighting the good fight of faith against the disease ALS. As my dad was trying to eat, he experienced some difficulty.
Never one to miss an opportunity, the enemy tried to feed me thoughts of fear about my father’s health, doubt about whether God was really going to heal him, and depression about the continuing fight that is on my family’s hands. Yet the instant those thoughts came, I fortified myself on the inside and chose to stand strong in faith. I reminded myself of God’s word, and said a prayer asking for strength.
God was right there with all the strength I needed. Where I would have previously had to retreat to my room and have a good cry in despair, I was able to soldier through and help my father have his meal. God is truly helping me grow during this time!
Saints, this is why it is so important that we keep a reserve of God’s Word on the inside of us. If there is no Word stored up, we won’t have anything to draw on in the time of trouble. The Bible addresses any and every situation that we will ever have to face. It is in our best interest to be students of the Word, so the any time the devil shows his ugly face, we have ready ammunition to shoot his fiery darts down!
Verse of the Day: Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. Joshua 1:8 (NLT)
